How to use every option

  1. Search or browse — type a keyword in the search box, or click a category tab (Smileys, People, Animals, Food, Travel, Activities, Objects, Symbols, Flags) to filter the grid.
  2. Pick a skin tone — choose Light through Dark, and it's automatically applied to every hand/gesture/people emoji in the grid that supports it.
  3. Adjust grid size and sort — switch between Small/Medium/Large emoji tiles, and sort alphabetically or by category order.
  4. Filter the view — use the "Show" dropdown to see only your Favorites or only Recently Used emojis.
  5. Click any emoji to copy it instantly and open the Details panel, where you can also copy it as an HTML entity, Unicode codepoint (U+XXXX), :shortcode:, or a CSS content value, star it as a favorite, or download it as a PNG image.
  6. Turn on Bulk Select to click several emojis without copying each one — then use "Copy Selected" to copy them all as one string.
  7. Turn on Build Mode and click emojis to append them to the Sentence/Combo Builder box, useful for building reaction strings or emoji "sentences".
  8. Convert shortcodes — paste text containing -style shortcodes and click Convert to Emoji, or use the reverse button to turn emoji characters back into shortcodes.
  9. Count emojis in any block of text using the Emoji Counter.
  10. Roll a random emoji or check the Emoji of the Day, which is the same for everyone on a given date.
  11. Revisit recent or favorite emojis from their dedicated panels, and check your Copy History to see exactly what you copied and in which format.
  12. Back up your favorites with Export, restore them with Import on another device, or embed the whole tool on your own site with the iframe snippet.

Frequently Asked Questions

A curated set of roughly 380 commonly used emojis with names, keywords, and shortcodes across 9 categories. It doesn't yet cover the full official Unicode emoji list (around 3,700), but new ones are added over time.

Click any emoji to copy it to your clipboard instantly and open its details panel, where you can also copy it as an HTML entity, Unicode codepoint, shortcode, or CSS content value.

Pick a skin tone from the selector above the grid. It's automatically applied to hand, gesture, and people emojis that support Fitzpatrick skin tone modifiers; emojis without a supported modifier are shown in their default color.

Paste text containing shortcodes like  or  into the converter and it replaces every recognized shortcode with the matching emoji character, entirely in your browser.

Emoji copies the character itself. HTML entity gives a numeric character reference for HTML source. Unicode codepoint shows the U+XXXX form. Shortcode gives the :name: form used by Slack/Discord/GitHub. CSS content gives a ready-to-use content value.

Yes. Use Export Favorites to download a JSON list, then Import Favorites on another device or browser to restore the same set.

Emoji rendering depends on your operating system and browser, not this tool — the same character can look different on Windows, macOS, iOS, or Android.
